Darcy’s Voyage by Kara Louise
A Tale Of Unchartered Love On The Open Seas
Pride and Prejudice RETOLD...
On the cover of my copy of Darcy’s Voyage is a quote “Unique and fun, I couldn’t put it down” well I concur.
If Pride and Prejudice and the last Titanic movie made mad passionate love and had a baby, THIS IS IT.
Kara Louise re-writes the story with Darcy and Elizabeth falling in love with each other yet not knowing anything about each other while on a coach journey.
They meet again two years later on a ship ‘Pemberley’s Promise’ and slowly realise that they are the same two people that fell for each other on that long ago coach journey.
Unlike the Titanic Lizzy is in Steerage and Darcy has the finest berth on the ship.
As the ship travels on it’s month long voyage to the Americas, their journeys are quite different, it is cramped, smelly, dark and a fever is rapidly spreading through steerage. While, Darcy is in comfort with the only problem being the unmarried ladies wanting to make his acquaintance.
There are many departures from the original tale but it manages to stay true to the tale at the same time.
I am not going to tell you all the story, but, I am sure once started you will find it hard to put down this book, I certainly did.
It’s different enough to keep you guessing what is coming next.
Kara Louise has self published 6 books, 2 of which have been published by Sourcebooks. Darcy’s Voyage (Originally called Pemberley’s Promise), and, Only Mr Darcy Will Do (Originally called: Something Like Regret).
I am sure if her other work is as entertaining as this she will soon find all her books snapped up.
