All Hallows Eve by Wendi Sotis

All Hallows Eve by Wendy Sotis

In this Jane Austen fan fiction the story is quite unique.

While Darcy is torturing himself as he has realised he loves Elizabeth even though her standing is so inferior to his own. He walks to clear his head and on hearing Elizabeths lovely voice finds her in a clearing performing an ancient ritual.

Everything he knows is turned on its head. He and Elizabeth are linked and she is the one that out ranks him.

She is a high priestess and it is his destiny to protect her, she is in terrible danger.

Darcy enlists the help of Richard Fitzwilliam and his older brother as well as Bingley to be guards for Lizzy.

I don't want to give away the story, but, it is full of action and excitement  Loads of danger for Darcy to save his Lizzy from and some very neat twists that put some of Jane Austen's characters into a completely different light.

This is not for you if you are a purist but it is a lot of fun. And, having read this I shall have to find more books by Wendi Sotis to read as this one has really whetted my appetite.

Darcy Goes to War by Mary Lydon Simonsen

Darcy Goes to War by Mary Lydon Simonsen

Well and truly into the Second World War and Darcy is a Bomber Pilot with the RAF and Lizzy is driving trucks around war torn Britain.

They meet in a pub where Darcy is trying to drown his sorrows after a traumatic bomb raid and Lizzy is delivering vegetables from the farms. He feels he knows her face but is still insufferably rude to her.

She thinks he is good looking but intolerable and so the story starts in time honoured tradition.

But how can they fall in love when she vowed to keep her heart safe after her beloved Sister jane lost her fiancee early in the war, Elizabeth won't even dance.

Darcy is confined to barracks with each mission and will be moved to the other end of the country for training. It looks hopeless for them.

All the Bennet family are fighting the war by doing their part to help the war effort.

But Lydia still gets into trouble as she falls for Wykhams lies.

This tale of Elizabeth and Darcy is gripping, romantic and a real pleasure to read.

Mary brings the London blitz back to life as we hide under the table with Lizzy and Darcy as buzz bombs fall all over London.

A Darcy Christmas ~ A Holiday Tribute To Jane Austen

A Darcy Christmas ~ A Holiday Tribute To Jane Austen

Amanda Grange, Sharon Lathan, Carolyn Eberhart

As the book blurb goes: "Share in the magic of the season in these three warm and wonderful holiday novellas from bestselling authors".

If you need a little nudge to get you in the christmas mood, here is a good push in that direction.
Three christmas themed stories in one book, starting with:

Mr Darcy's Christmas Carol by Carolyn Eberhart

Where a remake of Dickens Christmas Carol meets Pride and Prejudice in quite a clever blend.
Staying with Austen's characters Darcy is visited by Ghosts and Christmas Spirits in an effort to show him how badly his life will turn out if he does not get off of his high horse and go and propose to the woman he loves.

The spirit of Christmas past shows him he was not always such a prideful and judgemental man and the ghost of Christmas future shows him such a bleak future with no Elizabeth in it that he is galvanised into action.

A fun mash up of two classics.

The second story is:

Christmas Present by Amanda Grange

Mr Darcy receives the most welcome christmas present of all, an heir for Pemberley.
In this heart warming story Jane has already pipped Lizzy to the post and given birth to a lovely baby boy and Charles is besotted.

Lizzy in the latter stages of her pregnancy persuades Darcy to let her go and see Jane and the baby and spend christmas with her family.

Caroline is ruling the roost while Jane is recovering and has organised a ball. Lizzy cant help but want to dance, resulting in labours onset.

This is a warm uplifting story with a full cast brought together over christmas.

and finally we have:

A Darcy Christmas by Sharon Lathan
If you are a fan of Sharon Lathan's books you will love this collection of glimpses into the Christmas's through the years as the Darcy family increases and new arrivals join the loving family, some come  through marriage some through birth and of course some leave them through death.

The stories sweet or sad are all heart warming and full of love.

Romance is Sharon Lathan's forte and this collection of christmas stories delivers plenty.
I always enjoy her character Dr Darcy, he is a real splash of colour on the page.

The Only Way by Ola Wegner

The Only Way  by Ola Wegner

A Tale of Pride and Prejudice

This story starts with Mr Darcy’s proposal at the parsonage in Huntsford. Elizabeth refuses him soundly only to be told that evening that her beloved Father,  Mr Bennet has had an accident and died.

She is totally grief stricken and who is there to comfort her? Mr Darcy.

This is a Darcy who really can not take no for an answer He is proud and very high handed and as far as he is concerned Elizabeth is his fiancee, especially after she has wept all over his shirt.

Once he announces it to his Aunt, Lady Catherine, Lizzy has no choice but to flee the parsonage with Darcy and Colonel Fitzwilliam,To escape Her Wrath.

On reaching her Uncle’s home Darcy points out that there is no other way, she has to marry him as she is now compromised.

Can his kindness to her bereaved Family win Lizzy over,or is she tied to a man she hates.

The  story that follows is a good one with lots of emotion and interesting turns. I  thoroughly enjoyed it.
Sadly, the copy I downloaded on my Kindle had loads of missing words and mistakes which did diminish the reading pleasure, although I think this was a preview version (at the time called 'No Other Way') so hopefully it should not be an issue in the finally edited version.

That aside I do recommend this book to you. Ola Wegner is a natural story teller and you do care for her characters even if like Lizzy you would like to hit this Mr Darcy at times.

Mr Darcy Makes Advances by R. Grace

Mr Darcy Makes Advances by R. Grace

Maybe this should have been Mr Darcy gets lucky and makes out a lot or maybe Foreplay and Frolics.

Anyway, it starts on the fateful day of the proposal at the parsonage at Hungerford and eventually even though Elizabeth quite firmly says no, Mr Darcy ends up pressed firmly against her horizontal on Mr Collins couch.

Obviously by not accepting Elizabeths refusal to marry him the whole story takes a different route, one that finds Elizabeth and Darcy unable to keep their hands off of each other in some pretty steamy clandestine meetings in the woods of Roseings Park.

There is a charming scene where Darcy goes to ask Mr Bennet for Elizabeths hand in marriage.
This is a sweet, hot, sexy retelling with lashings of love and a few smiles.

A nice happy read that I finished in one sitting, so now it’s your turn, unless of course you prefer your Mr Darcy to keep his clothes on (I know a few who do)!

Pulse and Prejudice by Collette L. Saucier

Pulse and Prejudice by Collette L. Saucier

Pride and Prejudice with a Blood Thirsty Twist

Collette L. Saucier has stayed very close to the original story and follows the same time line.

The pride full haughty Darcy is also tinged with bitterness, he really doesn’t want to be a vampire.

It was possible to feel more sympathy for this vampire Darcy for his bad behavior at the Merryton Assembly when the poor chap is trying to live off of animal blood so as not to hurt anybody and, he has been living like a monk trying to avoid any female contact as he is not sure he could control himself.

This would put his avoidance of dancing and his rudeness into perfect perspective.

So having decided he can never marry, he then falls totally for Elizabeth.

Now Darcy of course is not the only vampire in this story, yes you guessed it, that horrid Wykham, the thorn in Darcys side, but unlike Darcy who is a reluctant vampire, Wykham embraces the darkest depths of his vampire state, and certainly no one is safe around him.

Doubling Darcy’s fears when Elizabeth is in his company.

This is a good re-telling, gripping and entertaining with out being too outrageous.

Caroline is just as unpleasant as ever and Mr Darcy gets my vote for seeing her as just as obnoxious as she is.

The new characters that Collette has added blend in well and engage you.

Will Elizabeth be able to face marriage to a Vampire ? You will have to get the book to find out.

I recommend this book whole heartedly. Collette has hinted at working on a follow up. I will be ready and willing as soon as it is out!

Questions for Authors ~ Colette Saucier

Colette Saucier ~ Answers Our Questions For Authors

1) Your own favorite Austen character and why?

Aunt Gardiner from “Pride and Prejudice.”  She is intelligent, intuitive, and unbiased, and she leaves the children with a sitter to go touring the country with her husband.

2) Your Favorite Austen book?

“Pride and Prejudice.”  It has set the standard for every romance novel and rom-com film for 200 years—the original that created the formula.  Boy meets girl.  Girl hates boy.  Boy likes girl.  Girl and boy realize they like each other.  Misunderstanding/outside forces tear them apart.  Reunion, reconciliation, happily ever after.

3) Which actor would you chose to be YOUR Mr Darcy and why?

My daughter and I were discussing who could best portray Mr. Darcy in a film adaptation of my novel “Pulse and Prejudice” (one can always dream), and we settled on Ben Barnes.  He is the appropriate age and British, but that is for a vampire Darcy.  If we may consider actors at any time in their careers…I suppose Russell Crowe is too manly (more a Col. Brandon).  I will stick with Colin Firth.  He portrayed Mr. Darcy perfectly both in “Pride and Prejudice” and “Bridget Jones’s Diary.”

4) Who would be your perfect Elizabeth?

I would be remiss if I chose any actress other than my brilliant and talented daughter!

5) Your favorite book of all time by any author?

Although I generally prefer the classics, particularly 19th century literature, my favorite novel of all time is “The Transmigration of Timothy Archer.”  Although written by Philip K. Dick (the prolific author of “Blade Runner,” “Minority Report,” “Total Recall,” etc.), it is a complete departure from the science fiction genre and was inspired by the life of his friend Bishop James Pike, who died in the Judean Desert while searching for proof of the historical Jesus.

6) Your favorite Austen film or TV adaption?

The 1995 BBC miniseries “Pride and Prejudice.”

7) You are having a dinner party and can invite four Austen characters which would they be?

Mr. and Mrs. Gardiner and Mr. and Mrs. Weston.

8. Why have you chosen them?

I would not invite Mr. Darcy because I know he is uncomfortable amongst strangers.  Although I considered Elizabeth and Mr. Bennet for their humor and repartee, they might use their caustic wit and sarcasm at the expense of the other guests—or even their host!  I would invite Mr. and Mrs. Gardiner and Mr. and Mrs. Weston because my husband and I enjoy dinner parties with intelligent, sophisticated married couples, and these must be the most sensible people in the entire Austen universe.

9) Which character would you like to play in a film?

The question does not limit me to Austen characters, so I will say Kirsten Lundborg from “The Transmigration of Timothy Archer.”  I am not an actress and would rather not portray anyone in film, but this would mean that the novel is being turned into a movie!  I would also like to cast Russell Crowe as Timothy Archer.

10) Tell us about your next planned book (whether Austen related or not)?

I am currently writing a sequel to “Pulse and Prejudice” entitled “Dearest Bloodiest Elizabeth” in which the new Mrs. Darcy adjusts to marriage to a vampire.  I have a contemporary novel in the works as well, and I am toying with a concept for a romance about a werewolf named Heathcliff living on the moors in Victorian England but with lots of cool, futuristic gadgets.  So it would be a shapeshifter, steampunk, erotic romance adaptation of “Wuthering Heights” called “Withering Frights.”  Perhaps it would help my daughter find some merit in the “other” Bronte sister.

He Taught Me To Hope by P.O.Dixon

He Taught Me To Hope by P.O.Dixon

Darcy and the Young Knights Quest

A what if Pride and Prejudice variation that dares to go a bit further from the original than most while keeping the tone.

So, this Elizabeth crosses her Father and marries at seventeen against his wishes and is widowed not long after and left with a small Son.

Five years on she is back at home and agrees to marry a Mr Collins to save her family from disaster due to the entail on the estate.

Mr Darcy meets a small boy obsessed with the Knights of the Round Table and heroic deeds and becomes his King Arthur, charmed by the boys spirit they become friends.

And, just to make things just a bit more impossible for Elizabeth and Darcy to get together.
Anne De Bourgh will have Mr Darcy for her Husband or die trying.

With all these difficulties you would think the couple would never be able to overcome all the obstacles and come together.

This story I found to be quite compulsive, I could not put it down and had to keep reading all the way to the end.

Mr Darcy’s Secret by Jane Odiwe

Mr Darcy’s Secret by Jane Odiwe

Can Darcy Trust Elizabeth With The Whole Truth?

Pride and Prejudice Continues

Another most enjoyable book!

Mr Darcy is now married and has Elizabeth in place as Mistress of Pemberley. But, his prideful and haughty behavior keeps surfacing. Especially when it comes to his sister Georgiana, he becomes completely stubborn and all Elizabeth’s pleas to Darcy not to push his sister into a loveless marriage go unheard. Worse still he causes an unpleasant rift between the newly weds.

In fact, Elizabeth must be thinking she has married in haste herself. (Yes he is that bad).

What is worse not only does Georgiana not want to marry her brothers choice but she has met someone else, someone her brother would not even consider as a suitable husband.

While all this is going on Elizabeth is being bombarded with comments, hints and anonymous notes all suggesting awful things about her husbands past.

And, although she tries very hard not to believe any of them, the evidence against him may be mounting, and, of course where there is trouble for Darcy, Mr Wickham is never far away with his blackmail schemes and trouble making.

So, what is the secret?

You will have to pick up your own copy of the book to find out.

The story constantly draws you in and it was very hard to put down.

My Dearest, Mr Darcy by Sharon Latham

My Dearest, Mr Darcy by Sharon Latham

An Amazing Journey Into Love Everlasting

Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice Continues...

Book 3

Starting with snippets of a physicians memoirs, in which we get to know Dr Darcy (Fitzwilliams Uncle), therefore giving us the chance to emphasize with his character, which is useful as he is a mainstay in the Darcy Saga.

Looking after Lizzy through here pregnancy and wanting to be the one to deliver the heir to Pemberley.
Darcy & Elizabeth go for a holiday by the sea in a charming little story line complete, with sea, sand, sex and sunsets. And, a little spice as another woman tries to gain Darcy’s attention.

As this saga develops and not quite every page is filled with LOVE, it actually becomes more entertaining and the pace faster.

As well as more details about George Darcy, We also get more of the running of the Pemberly Estate.
Darcy persuades Lizzy to renew their marriage vows in the church on the Pemberly Estate where all the Darcy’s had previously been Married.

There is still plenty of mushyness and long lingering looks so don’t worry if that’s your style.

You also get to join with Darcy and Elizabeth as their first child is born. This is where Sharon Latham being a neonatal ICU nurse comes into her own.

The birth is well written and very moving and increases the affinity one feels with all concerned.
And so I move onto the 4th Book: In The Arms Of Mr Darcy (A honeymoon can last a life time).

I am sure that as Sharon Latham’s characters grow in strength the books will improve with them.

Darcy’s Temptation by Regina Jeffers

Darcy’s Temptation by Regina Jeffers

A Sequel to Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice

Following on directly from the story in Darcy’s Passion all is pretty much bliss for the Darcy’s, until……..

Darcy leaves his Elizabeth at Pemberly to go and check out a threat to his beloved sister.

He is set upon and left for dead, a crazy but  engaging plot then ensues when he is rescued by a mad woman. I don’t want to give anything away but she makes Mrs Haversham seem sane by comparison.

Elizabeth is pregnant and holding the fort while Darcy has vanished.

Lady Catherine gets to be as evil and nasty as only she could be threatening and brow beating Elizabeth in Darcy’s absence. She, even purposely hides the knowledge of Darcy’s whereabouts when she finds out from Mr Collins where he is.

Unfortunately he is not the same man on his return.

This story has many highs and lows and at one point I was actually in tears (I am rather soppy). There are plenty of good sub plots with Kitty and Georgina both building their new relationships with the men in their lives.

The scene in this book where Wickham tried to make a move on Pemberly while Darcy is absent s priceless and gave me great pleasure.

So for Regina Jeffers books I say yes, yes and please give us more.

I don’t want to give away any of the story line so you need to get your selves the books and read them.

Darcy’s Passions by Regina Jeffers

Darcy’s Passions by Regina Jeffers

Fitzwilliam Darcy's Story

Just as good as I hoped it would be, this covers Pride and Prejudice faithfully from Darcy’s perspective then carries on with detailed coverage of the courtship of Darcy and Elizabeth, then the wedding and the honeymoon. Where Darcy and Elizabeth at last get the chance to get to know each other, alone up close and personal.

Very romantic and heart warming the story follows the newly weds from their London home to their first steps together at Pemberley.

Georgiana is a well rounded character in this tale quietly supporting and encouraging her Brother and as smitten with Elizabeth Bennet as a Sister as Darcy is with her as a wife.

There are a few bumpy moments, a dramatic flare of tempers as they both settle into their rolls at Pemberly.

Plenty of love for all in this tale with some suitable young men being introduced into the story.

A real feel good tale as the Darcys spend their first Christmas and New Years together and the New Year is seen in with all the nicest characters from Pride and Prejudice brought together to enjoy themselves and each other.

New relationships and romances blossom.

This book ends on a high note leaving you wanting some more. So it’s a good thing I have the next book Darcy’s Temptation ready to go and I will be starting it straight away.

Vampire Darcy’s Desire by Regina Jeffers

Vampire Darcy’s Desire by Regina Jeffers

A Pride and Prejudice Adaption

As I read the authors preface, in which she states that on being asked to write this book her hackles rose, she says she flatly refused to even consider a vampire version.

She only gave in eventually when she started thinking that the project would go on with or without her.

Not a promising start I thought, but thank goodness she did give in.

This Vampire Darcy beats all the other ones of it’s ilk that I have read so far.

It is intelligent, interesting and a dam good read.

Regina twists the original to allow for her tale of horror and passion.

Wickham soars to new heights of Villainy as the source and executioner of the Darcy Family Curse.

Celtic mythology and vampire folklore blend in a truly evil and impressive tormentor.

The evil super powers of the vampire make this story less predictable, as Darcy with his bold and plucky Elizabeth, have to try and stop the slaying of the innocents.

Darcy a half vampire has for sworn any hope of a wife and family in the hope of stopping his curse of the first born son being passed on, but, then he is blindsided by his passion for Elizabeth and he tries not to consummate their marriage.

But Elizabeth has other ideas, she wants to get to the root of the problem to do battle with the curse and lift it from their lives so that she can have a complete life.

With the help of Colonel Fitzwilliam they go into an epic battle.

The demise of Lydia Bennet, I have to say causes very little distress as she is as always not very likable, even less so as the undead.

This book is really, really engaging.

Next, I will be reading Regina Jeffers book – Darcy’s Passions

The Trails of the Honorable F. Darcy by Sara Angelini

The Trails of the Honorable F. Darcy by Sara Angelini

A Modern Pride and Prejudice

In this modern adaption of Pride and Prejudice, The Honorable F. Darcy is a fast tracked high powered judge, the youngest in the country.

He lives in a penthouse in San Francisco but still retains the family home of Pemberly in England.
He is just as proud, impatient and uptight as a Darcy should be.

Elizabeth is a keen young attorney working in the same court house. She is quirky and bright with a family as dysfunctional as ever.

She hates taking cases before the Honorable F. Darcy who is uncompromising and exacting. They spar in the courtroom while his best friend Charley Bingley falls for a Lamborghini Murcielago closely followed Jane Bennet.

Dr Charles Bingley is the pediatric surgeon at Meryton Hospital, Jane is doing her residency there also and is determined that Charles will notice her.

Several other characters are in the story of Elizabeth and Darcy’s battle from hate to passion and there are plenty of sparks and sexual tension and loads of graphic steamy sex, (even in an elevator between floors).

Caroline Bingley’s constant attentions to Darcy also doesn't help the on off relationship to get on the right track (don’t cheat and look it up first but on page 310 of this book were the most romantic lines I have read in a very, very long time they certainly put a lump in my throat).

This is a love story a steamy and passionate and stirring love story, read it and revel in the intensity.

Well done to Sara Angelini, we would all give our right arms for a Mr Darcy of our own to love us this passionately.

The Plight of the Darcy Brothers by Marsha Altman

The Plight of the Darcy Brothers by Marsha Altman

Pride and Prejudice Continues: A Tale of Siblings and Surprises

Another rip roaring tale by the author of The Darcys and The Bingleys

It says it is ‘A Tale of Siblings and Surprises’ and it certainly is……

Full to the brim with very colorful characters  and adventure.

It is hard to review this book with out giving away any of the surprises. Elizabeth has deep sadness after a miscarriage and Darcy is still recovering his wound, but now the Bennets need help again.

Mary is in trouble and Elizabeth and Darcy  have to travel through a war torn Europe to sort out the mess.  Along the way momentous events unfold  and we learn much of the Darcy history we did not know, knocking Mr Darcys father firmly off his pedestal.

With help from unexpected quarters they finally manage to sort out the situation and return many months later to England with their new acquaintances.

More mayhem and disaster strikes on home territory, amongst all  the bad things happening we see Caroline happily married and the Darcys and Bingleys growing families taking shape and having characters of their own, even Anne De Burgh has happily settled.

The life long struggle with George Wickham is finally resolved in the most dramatic way,I even shed a tear.

This book is a little more outlandish than the first but still worthwhile, I enjoyed it, fast paced and entertaining.

I shall be starting book three at once and I am sure it will be just as much fun Mr Darcys Great Escape here I come.

The Darcys Give A Ball by Elizabeth Newark

The Darcys Give A Ball by Elizabeth Newark

I sat and read this book in one sitting and I wish there had been more of it. Some of the long jumps in time could have been stood to be filled out.

Darcy and Elizabeth are not at the forefront of this story, but still it was a pleasure and entertaining to see some of the Collinses life and their station in life improve as they finally wrest Longbourne from the Bennets and their children grow up.

The author really enjoys playing with all the imaginary offspring of all the heroes and heroines of Austen’s novels and puts them all together in a ballroom, such a whimsical and delightful idea.

I would love to read more like this, If you have yet to read it, do, it’s a real pleasure.
